The User Support Services unit provides computer related support to all faculty, staff and registered students on campus. Working in partnership with the user community, our mission is to provide outstanding support through the timely resolution of their desktop computing issues.

1. Microsoft Updates are current:
• Critical Options are performed.
• Drivers are evaluated.
• Should be configured automatically to update if settings under Control Panel are enabled.
• Provides higher level of security at the desktop.



2. Verify Symantec Anti Virus is configured according IT standards.
• OCELOT is our managed server. New virus patterns are deployed to every desktop.
• ‘Network drives’ setting is not selected for realtime protection. This affects desktop performance.
• Delete option set for action taken in both tabs under realtime protection, Macro and NonMacro viruses.



3. Disk Clean Up
• Delete temporary files
• Delete temporary internet files
• Utilizes disk space at an optimum.



4. Defragment hard drive
• Utility to maintain better performance of the computer hardware.
• Troubleshoot minor/major computer related issues.



5. Microsoft Office Suite: Default application files to H:\data
• Proactive approach to providing a secure location for file storage and data recovery.
• Information Technology routinely performs backup of all servers.
• Files stored on your ‘HOME’ space are accessible across campus where you log onto the network.



6. Backup websites
• Favorites
• Bookmark.htm
• Import option



7. Confirm current versions of supported software are installed on the desktop.
• Internet Explorer
• SPSS
• Mathematica
• MS Office
• AntiVirus
• Others



8. Printer configuration
• Requested connections.
• Access provides printing from around campus.



9. Cleanup Start Menu
• Training on Customizing
• No invalid application paths
