Project Initiatives
The department of Information Technology offers the College an organization of individuals with technically creative talents dedicated to the highest professional standards.
IT supports the college's teaching and learning mission, the pursuit of effective business practices, and the practice of collaborating and partnering with the faculty, staff, and
students of Mount Union College in applying information technology to achieve their goals. The IT staff is committed to the stewardship of the campus's information technology
resources and to foster an environment where accountability, communication, and support are paramount across all aspects of their involvement with the campus community.

Governance Process
|
| Develop a coherent governance process for IT decision-making through a cross-campus consultative process to be known as the Information Technology Planning and Advisory Committee (ITPAC) that encourages planning and priority-setting at every level of the institution and that ensures that technology initiatives are aligned with the goals of the College. |

Instructional Technology
|
| Increase investments in academic technology in order to support the enhanced and appropriate integration of technology in the learning experience both within the classroom and through distributed approaches to learning (i.e. Email, Online Chat Rooms, 2-way interactive video, Electronic Collaborative Rooms, Interactive Web space).

Administrative Computing
|
| Commit to improve coordination with and support for administrative offices. Provide integrated, standards-based, vendor supported information systems that enable smooth, effective business operations and provide needed information quickly. |

Network Infrastructure Enhancements
|
| Enhance the network infrastructure by improving network security services, and expandng wireless capabilities on campus. Institute a disaster recovery and security strategy plan that also provides appropriate user flexibility, and opportunities for new technologies. |

Web and Portal
|
| Create a technical architecture for integrating web and portal services as Mount Union moves towards a self-service model that is committed to customer satisfaction. Increase the availability of and support for Web based systems throughout the campus. Institute an IT web site that becomes a communication vehicle for the department. |

| Articulate the values and mission of IT in order to establish the ethical commitments and core services provided by the organization. |

Internal Initiative II
Communication
|
| Commit to communication, sharing, and consultation in order to support open decision-making, collaboration across the campus, and better processes for feedback and information sharing. Best practice is to over communicate and exceed the user expectation, not once but at all times. |

Align IT with other Campus Initiatives
|
| Align the IT organization with other organization/departmental unit initiatives articulated at the campus level, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Business Office, Advancement, Enrollment Management, the Student Senate, and the needs identified by the colleges auxiliary services. |

Internal Initiative IV
Improve Product Development and Delivery
|
| Improve IT product development and delivery processes (better, cheaper, faster), while at the same time supporting redundant systems for production and commodity traffic on campus. |

Partnerships and Collaboration

| Develop and enhance partnerships and encouragement of inter-institutional collaboration to maintain and enhance Mount Unions leadership role in information technology. |
